Talks

There are no refreshment facilities within the Gallery itself, but there are many restaurants, sandwich shops and wine bars in the neighbourhood which are open weekday lunchtimes as well as the cafeterias and restaurants of the Museum of London and the Barbican Centre which remain open at weekends.

Art Classes

The Gallery hosts a regular Drop-in Art Class and an Evening Art Course. Information on classes when available can be found in News and Events.

Schools

Guildhall Art Gallery welcomes visits from schools and there is no charge for School Groups. Please see the Schools programme 2009-2010 (80kb). All School bookings must be made in advance. Please telephone 020 7332 3700 to book or for details. Teachers and group organisers are strongly recommended to make an advance visit and to discuss their requirements with Gallery staff: please telephone 020 7332 1632 / 1856, textphone 020 7332 3803 or email guildhall.artgallery@cityoflondon.gov.uk

Books about the Gallery and its collections are available from the Sales and Information desk at a cost of £6.95 each. A publication entitled Lifting the Lid on Art which includes a customised supplement about the Gallery is also available at £12.

London Paintings

Information covering subjects featured in three recently acquired paintings can be downloaded below (this includes activity sheets and timelines, together with many relevant images).

New River Head Teachers' Pack A1 PDF (151kb) looks at London’s water supply depicted in the painting A Prospect of the City from the North circa 1730 (English School) which shows the New River Head waterworks and reservoirs at Islington.

The Smithfield Market Pack examines the history of the area and the livestock market depicted in the painting Smithfield Market (attributed to John Paul 1804 -1887)
