Please note that the Parish Registers, Bishops Transcripts,
Non-conformist records and some of the Boards of Guardians records
listed in London Generations are now available through
Ancestry.co.uk. The Ancestry site allows
you to search indexes (where available) and view digital images of
every page of the registers.
London Generations is a database compiled from genealogical
sources held at London Metropolitan Archives. It can, for example,
tell you which parish registers we hold for Saint James
Clerkenwell, which workhouse registers we hold for the Kensington
area and how many admission and discharge registers we hold for
Shelburne Road School.
The registers date from the sixteenth century to the present
day, so you could find registers which mention several of your own
London Generations.
London Generations includes Anglican Parish Registers of
Baptism, Marriage and Burial, Anglican Parish Poor Law Registers,
Registers of Kensington, Chelsea. Shoreditch and Hackney Boards of
Guardians, Bishops Transcripts of Parish Registers and Other
Sources, London County Council School Registers and Electoral
Registers for the Counties of London and Middlesex.

Diocese of London Consistory Court Wills index
This index was created by volunteers and contains 31,000 entries
of wills and letters of administration (granting authority to an
executor when a person died intestate) compiled from the London
Diocesan Court registers (DL/C/354-416). Near complete
coverage is provided for the years 1514-1858 (please note there are
no registers for the years 1521-1539 and 1642-1670).
The index is available here to download as several PDF
files.
